“The curious paradox is, when I accept myself as I am, then I can change"
Carl Rogers
Hello
My name is Lucy Johnson
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and an accredited, registered member of the IACP and the BACP, based in Dublin. I hold an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice and a specialist certificate in Working Therapeutically with Eating Disorders.
I understand that life can be hard, confusing or painful. I offer a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings and experiences at a pace that feels safe for you.
I have a special interest in self-esteem, body image and issues around food but have experience working with a lot of different issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, loss and school or work stresses. I am here to listen to whatever you would like to bring.
If you would like a sense of freedom from the difficult feelings, self doubt or negative self talk holding you back, please get in touch today.
"It's funny how day by day nothing changes. But when you look back, everything is different."
C.S. Lewis
A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
I work in a Person-Centred way, which is one of the major models of psychotherapy practiced worldwide and has been shown to be effective with a wide range of presenting issues.

Person-Centred Therapy means that sessions are led by you, at a pace that feels right. You lead the way and I walk alongside you. I may shine a light or suggest we stop on some things you may rush past, but you don't have to stop alone. I will be with you to help.

I truly believe that you are the expert in your own life. Therefore, therapy is not about me giving my interpretations or advice, but more about empowering you to find the answers within yourself and find your own way forward.

I offer face-to-face sessions and am based in Bath Avenue Counselling Centre. I also offer remote sessions, which allows me to work with clients across Ireland and the UK. These can be via video call or over the phone, whichever you prefer. This allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home, I just ask that you ensure you have a private space where you won't be interrupted.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, in order to make sure it feels like a good fit for you. This is just an informal chat to get to know each other a bit better.
I understand how daunting it can be to reach out, especially if this is your first experience of therapy. Please get in touch below so we can arrange a time for a chat and we can go from there :)
